From an Outdated Bathroom to a Luxury Primary Suite
Every homeowner deserves a bathroom that feels both beautiful and functional.
For this Bergen County family, their existing bathroom no longer reflected their lifestyle. The layout was inefficient, storage was limited, and the finishes felt dated. While the space had served its purpose for many years, it lacked the comfort, organization, and timeless design the homeowners envisioned for their forever home.
Rather than simply replacing fixtures, they wanted to completely reimagine the space.
Their vision was to create a bathroom that felt like a boutique hotel or luxury European spa—bright, functional, elegant, and designed around the way they live every day.
At AP Design & Construction LLC, we approached the renovation with one clear objective:
Transform an outdated bathroom into a luxurious retreat that maximizes space, enhances functionality, and delivers a timeless design built to last.
The Challenge
The existing bathroom had several limitations that prevented it from meeting the homeowners’ needs.
These included:
- An inefficient layout
- Limited storage
- A small shower
- A single vanity
- Minimal privacy
- Outdated finishes
- A floor plan that no longer supported modern living
Instead of simply updating finishes, we completely redesigned the layout to improve functionality, increase storage, maximize natural light, and create a space that feels open, luxurious, and thoughtfully organized.
The goal wasn’t just to renovate the bathroom—it was to transform the entire experience of using it.
The Result
What was once an outdated and inefficient bathroom has been transformed into a luxurious retreat that feels both elegant and highly functional.
By completely reimagining the layout, we created a space that is brighter, more spacious, and designed around the homeowners’ daily routines. The custom double vanity provides generous storage and allows two people to comfortably use the space at the same time, while the oversized walk-in shower delivers a true spa experience with three unique showering options.
Relocating the toilet created a greater sense of privacy without sacrificing the open feel of the room, and the addition of a dedicated linen closet keeps everyday essentials organized and out of sight.
One of the most striking features of the renovation is the large picture window overlooking the treetops. It floods the bathroom with natural light while preserving complete privacy, creating a peaceful connection to the outdoors that makes the room feel even larger.
The carefully curated tile selections, inspired by the homeowners’ recent travels through Europe, give the bathroom a timeless elegance and distinctive personality. Rather than following short-lived design trends, every material was selected to create a sophisticated space that will remain beautiful for years to come.
Today, the bathroom is no longer simply a functional room—it has become one of the homeowners’ favorite spaces in the house. It’s a place where thoughtful planning, custom craftsmanship, and timeless design come together to create a daily experience that feels calm, comfortable, and luxurious
